Andreas Petsas named new CEO of Eurobank Limited

Eurobank Limited’ Board of Directors, decided to appoint Mr Andreas Petsas as a Member of the Board of Directors and as the Bank’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), in a meeting held on 17 September 2024 in Nicosia. Mr Petsas started his career in the banking sector in 1997, at Laiki Bank where he held various managerial positions in Corporate Banking.

Termination of Negative Interest Rates

As of 01/10/2022, the negative interest rates on EUR denominated deposits held by legal entities will be terminated. The decision has been taken following the recent European Central Bank (“ECB”) decisions to raise the key ECB interest rates.

Introduction of negative interest rates for deposits held in Euro for legal entities

Given the persistent negative interest rate environment in the Eurozone, with the European Central Bank’s (ECB) base rate currently standing at negative 0.50% (-0.50%) per annum, Eurobank Limited (the “Bank”) will be applying a negative interest rate of 0.50% (-0.50%) per annum to all Euro denominated accounts with credit balances held by legal entities, starting from 01/03/2022.  The negative interest rates will apply to all accounts with credit balances denominated in Euro, excluding fixed deposits whose interest rate has been fixed prior to the date of this announcement.
